Waterfire
This past Saturday night my girlfriend and I went to WaterFire, a half-mile long water sculpture created by Barnaby Evans that weaves through the three rivers of downtown Providence, Rhode Island. I had never been to Providence or to WaterFire before, so I didn’t quite know what to expect.
Turns out it was pretty awesome. Around sunset gondolas go up and down the rivers lighting these huge bonfires. There are thousands upon thousands of people stretched across the entire downtown waterfront area, with all sorts of vendors and bars and restaurants right on the water.
A few pictures:

If you’re ever in Rhode Island, I highly recommend checking it out. They do about 10 lightings per Summer. There are still two left this year. It’s one of those unique atmospheres where you get to truly experience the very best aspects of the culture of a beautiful city.
