Greg did a great write-up over on the Detailed Image blog summing up our thoughts on DI’s first decade:
10 years….it seems hard to believe at times. DetailedImage.com began as a business run out of a basement with borrowed furniture and lots of hard work while some of us were still in college. We had no investors or advisors but we were hungry and determined to make an impact on the detailing world. We originally offered both detailing services and product sales, but later sold the service side and we’ve been focused on providing you the best products ever since. We’ve come so far and we’re so grateful for all our customers and supporters. We love helping customers pick out product that best meet their needs or solve a detailing problem that has been challenging them for days, weeks, months or sometimes even years! Hearing stories about customers getting to care for the first new vehicle they ever bought or someone starting their own business have been extremely rewarding and motivated us to keep pushing ourselves to greatness. One customer in particular really touched us when he emailed us letting us know our products and advise helped him really enjoy detailing again, which helped him find refuge and happiness again while going through a painful divorce. These amazing stories and countless thank you e-mails from customers have been deeply appreciated! The kind words and support we have received from our customers over the last 10 years have been amazing. We can’t thank you enough and we are honored and humbled by all of the great people we get to interact with on a daily basis.
Mike and I didn’t officially become a part of DI until early 2007 when it became a part of Pure Adapt. Back then we had a whole lot going on. The majority of revenue came from services: detailing and web design/development/SEO. We tried a whole bunch of other businesses, but the e-commerce portion of Detailed Image always had the most potential to thrive for our team, and looking back it’s no surprise that it became the core of our business.
2014 is the year of 10 year anniversaries. Back in July SportsLizard celebrated it’s 10th year. Now Detailed Image. And in December it will be 10 years since I graduated college. Yikes!
