Sometimes It Is Crazy at Work, Big Dairy, and Football’s Insurance Problem – Link Roundup
Here are some of the most interesting articles I’ve come across recently:
- Our book launch was botched and it’s been crazy at work trying to fix it – I always appreciate how upfront the Basecamp guys are when something chaotic like this happens, especially when it’s the launch of a book entitled “It Doesn’t Have to Be Crazy at Work” [Signal v. Noise]
- Tech C.E.O.s Are in Love With Their Principal Doomsayer – this reads like satire, but it’s not! The futurist philosopher who despises tech companies, and yet Silicon Valley loves him! [NY Times]
- Subtract – “The most successful people I know have a narrow focus, protect against time-wasters, say no to almost everything, and have let go of old limiting beliefs.” [Derek Sivers]
- Become A Facebook-Free Business – while this is not a realistic option for everyone (us included), I think it’s a great way for companies to stand up to Facebook. A little will go a long way. [Signal v. Noise]
- For the NFL and all of football, a new threat: an evaporating insurance market – yet another reason that football as we know it might not exist in a generation. [ESPN]
- Big Dairy Is About to Flood America’s School Lunches With Milk – it’s so sad/frustrating that our school lunches are designed by lobbyists instead of nutritionists, and the focus is money and not the health of our youth. [Businessweek]
- Silicon Valley has become especially good at turning software, the highest margin product ever, into many of the worst performing businesses imaginable. – yup! [Signal v. Noise]
